Born in 1970, Al-Azmi studied Sharia law and worked in at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs before being elected to the National Assembly in 2006. While political parties are technically illegal in Kuwait, Al-Azmi affiliates with the Islamist deputies.
